The Lothars

"Terrastock West", April 19, 1998, at the Custer Avenue Stages in San Francisco, CA

A sequel to last year's Terrastock Festival in Providence, RI. The Lothars were one of over 35 bands performing at this three day event. The Terrastock web site has more information on this festival.

The festival itself was wonderful. Many of the bands played amazing sets and The Lothars were well-received. Alastair Galbraith, an amazing performer from New Zealand, joined us on his violin for three songs. Despite all this, the consensus among the members of The Lothars was that we were disappointed with our performance. Because we had flown in to San Francisco, we all used borrowed amplifiers. And because there were so many bands, we didn't get much of a soundcheck. As a result, the sound on stage was very different than what we were used to, and we found it difficult to really "connect" with each other. Listening to audience tapes of our performance confirmed to us that we could have been better.
