CD: "The Sandinista! Project"

The Lothars recorded a version of The Call Up for this double CD tribute to the Clash album (or, more precisely, triple album) Sandinista!, that also includes contributions by Jon Langford, Camper Van Beethoven, Wreckless Eric, Amy Rigby and Steve Wynn. We are in strange, but flattering, company. You can read more about The Sandinista! Project here.

DVD: "Theremin: An Electronic Odyssey"

The film that inspired Kris & Jon to take up their instruments. Steven Martin's documentary on the life of Leon Theremin is fascinating. It's got romance, intrigue and humor. It will make you laugh – it will make you cry.

Book: "Theremin: Ether Music and Espionage"

An engrossing and entertaining biography of Leon Theremin. Albert Glinsky's book solves many of the mysteries of the inventor's life that were left hanging in the film documentary.

CD: Clara Rockmore - "The Art Of The Theremin"

Until recently (see below), the only full-length CD of performances by the late theremin virtuosa Clara Rockmore. Features her seminal renditions of Rachmaninoff's Vocalise and Saint-Sans' The Swan.

CD: "Clara Rockmore's Lost Theremin Album"

Brand new CD (released December 2006) that comprises the additional material recorded by Bob Moog during the same July 1975 sessions that produced "The Art of the Theremin" (see above). Digitally remastered. Selections include "Summertime" by Gershwin and "Ave Maria" by Schubert, as well as material by Mattheson, Dvorák, Fuliehan, Chopin, Cassadó, J.S. Bach, Villa-Lobos and many more. Absolutely lovely.

CD: Dr. Samuel J. Hoffman and the Theremin (Box Set)

Originally released as a series of 78 rpm recordings for Capitol in the late 1940s, this three CD set collects the work of Dr. Samuel J. Hoffman (thereminist on Spellbound, The Lost Weekend, and The Day the Earth Stood Still) with British composer Harry Revel.

CD: Dr. Samuel J. Hoffman - "Waves in the Ether: The Magical World of the Theremin"

Exact same music as the Sam Hoffman CD box set above, but packaged less fancily onto a single CD..

CD: Lydia Kavina - "Music from the Ether: Original Works for Theremin"

Lydia Kavina is the granddaughter of Theremin's cousin and one of the best thereminists performing today. Here she tackles pieces written specifically for the theremin by Joseph Schillinger, Bohuslav Martinu, Percy Grainger and others, as well as several of her own compositions.

CD: Lydia Kavina - "Spellbound! Original Works For Theremin"

Another collection of pieces written specifically for the theremin, as performed by Lydia Kavina. Everything from Miklós Rósza's Spellbound Concerto, to Howard Shore's Suite from Ed Wood, to several works by Percy Grainger.

CD: Barbara Buchholz - "Theremin: Russia With Love"

Barbara Buchholz is a Berlin-based thereminist and a former student of Lydia Kavina's. On this CD she plays mostly her own compositions accompanied by Tilmann Denhard, Morin Smolé, Paul Kleber, Jan Krause and Leonid Soybelman.

CD: Barbara Buchholz - "Moonstruck"

"On her first CD, Barbara Buchholz presented her instrument; on [this] one, the theremin is presenting Barbara Buchholz." Includes collaborations with Jan Bang, Tilmann Dehnhard, Ulrike Haage, Arve Henriksen, Alejandro Govea Zappino, Kammerflimmer Kollektief, Jan Krause, Susanna and the Magical Orchestra.
