April 29, 2007, P.A.’s Lounge

March 17th, 2007 by Jon B.

This just added to the Gigs sections of the Lothars website:

On April 29, The Lothars return for their annual visit to local Somerville haunt P.A.’s Lounge. This time around, we are opening for Alasehir, a side project of Bardo Pond brothers John and Michael Gibbons with drummer Michael Zangha. Also on the bill are D.C. psych improvisors Kohoutek.

Compiletely Lothars

February 25th, 2007 by Jon B.

While procrastinating a write-up of my experiences in Los Angeles this past week, I took the time to add two songs to the Lothars Jukebox.

The first is an outtake from the Metallic Sonatas sessions that appeared on a 2003 compilation called Grain from the dotdotdot label out of Ireland. Subtitled “a compilation of 99 short tracks,” we were number 86.
The second is a cover version of The Call Up, written and originally recorded by The Clash. It’ll be released on May Day this year via a double CD tribute to Sandinista!, that also includes contributions by Jon Langford, Camper Van Beethoven, Wreckless Eric, Amy Rigby and Steve Wynn. We are in strange, but flattering, company. You can read more about The Sandinista! Project here.

[erekutoronika]

December 19th, 2006 by Jon B.

I was doing some vanity googling for the Lothars and stumbled upon this Japanese fan’s entry. Google’s translation service does a pretty good job of giving one a sense of what it’s about.

Plus, we get the gift with purchase of a potential album title (i.e. the title of this post).

The Lothars return to NYC

October 22nd, 2006 by Jon B.

Galapagos Art Space, December 5, 2006

The Lothars return to New York City for the first time in over seven years! We’ll be performing our semi-improvised soundtrack to the film Man with a Movie Camera (Chelovek s Kinoapparatom), something we last did a few years ago at the Coolidge Corner Theater in Brookline, MA.

The Galapagos Art Space is at 70 North 6th Street, between Kent and Wythe, in the Williamsburg section of Brooklyn. Visit their website for details and directions.

Under construction

October 22nd, 2006 by Jon B.

I do intend to give this blog, or at least the Lothars section, the same look-and-feel as the main Lothars Web Site, but I thought it more important to get this thing up and running. Until then, you’ll just have to suffer under the default Wordpress template.
